Launched in 2016 with only 4 upright styles, Bw Darius has just been updated with matching true italics for each weight. Drawn from scratch to complement the uprights, the italic version mirrors the sharp features of the original uprights applied to the more calligraphic construction of the cursive style.
We’ve also added a stencil version based on the uprights of Bw Darius, providing even greater flexibility specially for large-scale/display usage.
About Bw Darius
Designed by Alberto Romanos, Bw Darius is an elegant wedge serif typeface that rests halfway between the transitional and didone genres, taking a sharper approach to terminals without falling on the stiffness of the didones. The wide skeleton, modern proportions, and high contrast all contribute to the opulent personality of this font.
Bw Darius comes in four weights that range from a delicate Light to a robust and sturdy Black with matching true italics for each, along with an upright stencil version, enabling brands to use its various tonalities to achieve flawless design harmony. Its tall x-height and open apertures are suited for display and body text purposes, performing equally well in both print and digital applications.
Bw Darius supports all European Latin languages and it also includes OpenType features like Old-Style figures, fractions, case sensitive forms, standard ligatures, and unusual discretionary ligatures for extended versatility.
